Teachers should keep what they earn
MyOwnTeach is made by Faresay Ltd, a small software company in England. It's one of the Robin of Loxley apps: flat prices, no commission, and your data stays yours.
Plenty of language teachers find their first students on a marketplace. Fair enough: the marketplace did some work. But the commission keeps coming out of every lesson for as long as the student stays, long after the introduction was made.
MyOwnTeach is for the next step: running your regulars yourself. Booking, records, packages, invoices and payments, for one flat monthly fee, priced so that teachers in richer countries pay more and teachers elsewhere pay less.
What we think
A lesson fee belongs to the teacher
We charge for the software, by the month. Not a share of your teaching.
Price should follow what people can pay
Pro costs less in countries where incomes are lower. Teachers in richer countries pay a little more to make that work.
Your students aren't ours
We don't market to them, rank them or sell their data. Export everything whenever you like.
No vetting, by design
We don't check credentials or vet teachers. Plenty of good teachers hold no formal licence, and your students already chose you. Students are adults: they confirm they're 18 or over when they join.
Your data
We follow GDPR wherever you and your students live. You're the controller for your students' data and we're your processor. We keep what the service needs, never sell it and never use it for ads. The details are in our privacy notice.
